ur local church roots go back to 1788 with the founding of St. Peter's
(Fetterhoffs) church near Fisherville, where our Lutheran and Reformed ancestors worshipped together in a cooperative arrangement.
By the middle of the twentieth century, it became apparent that we could best minister to this corner of God's
kingdom through one church facility. On December 15, 1968, the name for this combined congregation was chosen:
The Valleys United Church of Christ. The new congregation gained a new home with construction of our present building in 1972.
n August of 2009, the Valleys congregation voted to dissolve its relationship
with the United Church of Christ and become an independent church. Shortly after, the Valleys voted to seek adoption
in the Evangelical Covenant Church and officially was adopted as a Covenant Church on June 25, 2010.
he Evangelical Covenant Church is a rapidly growing multiethnic denomination
in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants,
the ECC values the Bible as the Word of God, the gift of God's grace and ever deepening spiritual life that comes through
a faith with Jesus Christ, the importance of extending God's love and compassion to a hurting world, and the strength
that comes from unity within diversity. (From_ECC_Website)
he Valleys is in covenant with the Evangelical Covenant Church and empowered by the
Holy Spirit to live out the Great commandment to love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind, and to love our neighbors
as ourselves; and the Great Commission to go into all the world and make disciples.
he Valleys has been a part of a revitalization program called Navigate Pathway
since 2011. The denomination continues to walk with us as we rediscover God's calling to reach out with the good news of Jesus
Christ – evangelizing the lost, ministering to those in need, and seeking justice for the oppressed.
